After graduating law school in December 1997, Order of the Wig and Robe, Patrick joined our Charleston office, where he began his career as a trial lawyer. His area of practice is primarily construction law, but he also focuses on the defense of toxic torts, products liability and personal injury claims. He has appeared and tried cases throughout South Carolina.
Patrick is a member of the South Carolina State Bar and the Charleston County Bar. He is admitted to the Bar of the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina.
Patrick graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1986, winner of the history prize and a selected Trident Scholar. After completing course requirements for his undergraduate degree early, he received a grant to pursue a master degree in national security at Georgetown University while still a midshipman. He completed his master degree from Georgetown six months after graduating the Naval Academy.
As a line officer in the Navy, he attended various navy schools before posting as a division officer aboard USS DeWert (FFG-45), home-ported out of Charleston and deployed to the Persian Gulf. On DeWert he served as an auxiliary officer, electrical officer, damage control assistant, communications officer and first lieutenant. At the invitation of the academic dean and superintendent, he returned to the Naval Academy to teach history. Rotating back to sea duty, he served as chief engineer aboard USS Halyburton (FFG-40), also based in Charleston, and was again deployed to the Persian Gulf. He left active duty in August 1995 to attend law school at the University of South Carolina.
Patrick lives in Mount Pleasant with his wife and daughter. He is currently a commander in the Naval Reserve; in 2003, as commanding officer, he mobilized and deployed with his unit to Kuwait.
