Kelli Sullivan was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina. She graduated cum laude from the University of South Carolina in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts in political science. While at USC, Kelli was Student Body Vice President, and a member of several honor societies. Kelli attended the University of South Carolina School of Law and graduated with a Juris Doctor degree in 1996. While in law school, Kelli clerked with two Plaintiff’s side law firms primarily focused on class action litigation surrounding consumer and mortgage issues. Kelli was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 1996.
After practicing for several years as a Plaintiff’s attorney, Kelli worked as a Regional Counsel for Nationwide Insurance. There, she advised claims managers and company officials on matters involving bad faith claims, extra contractual exposure, declaratory judgment actions, and the impact of proposed legislation on the claims process. Kelli’s experience as in house counsel gave her valuable experience and insight into the information and types of facts that are most valuable to insurance carriers, which allows her to quickly respond to questions and distill cases to their most important issues. Kelli is also heavily involved in volunteer efforts through the South Carolina Bar. She was a member of the South Carolina Bar’s Ethics Advisory Committee for 10 years., and was Chair of the Committee in 2015. Kelli is also a panel member of the Fee Dispute Board, which mediates disputes between lawyers and their clients concerning fees, and is a member of the Lawyers Helping Lawyers Committee, a resource for attorneys who have mental health or other issues. Kelli was awarded the “Leadership in Law” award by Lawyer’s Weekly magazine in 2015, and was voted as one of the “Legal Elite of the Midlands” twice in the areas of Insurance Litigation and Health Law.
Kelli has been a litigator for over 15 years. She has significant experience in representing clients in cases involving automobile liability, premises liability, trucking liability, medical malpractice, and insurance coverage issues. She is an experienced in all types of insurance litigation, including general automobile liability, homeowner’s claims, commercial claims, and professional liability claims. Kelli has represented doctors, dentists and nurses in front of the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation for matters involving professional licensing, and speaks often to a variety of industry groups on current issues of interest in professional liability cases and practice management issues.. Kelli is also a certified civil mediator, and her experience as both a Plaintiff’s attorney, in house counsel, and defense attorney makes her uniquely qualified to assist clients in resolving their disputes short of trial.
When not practicing law, Kelli enjoys cooking and spending time with her husband Mike, and their two children and two dogs.
