Penn graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2009. He graduated magna cum laude from the Charleston School of Law in 2012. He received CALI awards for the highest grades in Civil Procedure, Criminal Procedure, Contracts, and Torts. He served as Honor Council Chairman and interned for U.S. District Judge Patrick Duffy and the City of Charleston Legal Department. In addition, he served as research assistant for Justice John C. Few and Distinguished Professor Nathan Crystal.
Penn became a lawyer to help people. He joined Clawson and Staubes in 2014. He practices with the litigation team and has tried many cases to verdict. He is licensed to practice in the state and federal courts of South Carolina. Super Lawyers Magazine recognized him as a “Rising Star” in 2017. Each year, no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in South Carolina receive this honor.
Penn lives in Mount Pleasant. He is an Eagle Scout and enjoys the outdoors. He is a member of the Society of the Cincinnati, the nation’s oldest patriotic organization. When not zealously representing clients, Penn spends time with his family, follows the Tar Heels, and lives the coastal life.
